NET ZERO by 2050 ROADMAP, International Energy Agency (IEA)

Net zero by 2050 (NZE) hinges on an unprecedented clean technology push to 2030.

The world has a huge challenge ahead of it to move net zero by 2050 from a narrow possibility to a practical reality. Global carbon dioxide emissions are already rebounding sharply as economies recover from last year’s pandemic‐induced shock. It is past time for governments to act, and act decisively to accelerate the clean energy transformation.

The technologies needed to achieve the necessary deep reductions in CO2 by 2030 already exist. Around USD 90 billion of public money needs to be mobilised globally as soon as possible to complete a portfolio of demonstration projects before 2030.
