Haigan founded RCA Carbon to unlock tropical agroforestry (food forest) investment at scale, to meet real-world needs in food security and climate change. As global food seeks fair, traceable and carbon smart agri-solutions upstream, Haigan advocates that ‘regenerative’ is replacing ‘sustainable’ as best practice.

A lifelong engagement with the natural world, agricultural people and developing countries, gives Haigan field-based experience in the potential of healthy soils and rural people, in particular women to transform communities and environments. A keen interest in agroecology and ethnobotany drives Haigan’s intention that smallholders, traditional and indigenous communities are incentivised through market access mechanisms and carbon farming for their role in balancing food production and climate change needs. Haigan believes that connecting the small and the many, through inclusive, collective structures, will deliver positive change, at scale, in food and climate balancing alongside social impact.

Haigan is the Founder and Chairman of the Coconut Knowledge Center (CKC) an inter-disciplinary connector and industry advocate, currently an inaugural member of the task force for the Sustainable Coconut Charter and Coconut Oil Roundtable, and Chairman of Oils and Powders NZ Ltd a regenerative agriculture supply-chain developer.

A New Zealand citizen, with high level experience in start-ups, foreign trade supervision, inspection and testing, structured finance, agriculture and conservation, Haigan considers his principal role as curator, of the best resource for achieving positive change, people.
